IIRC...My son uses a system that uses wifi signal. It keeps his ADHD hyper dog in check so it must work. I can ask him what system it is if you have the wifi to make it work. It may use GPS now that I think about it.

Checked with both my boys....it not wifi or gps. It uses a wireless signal from the base unit. PetSafe Stay and Play from Petsmart. Both boys use it and like it. $300

We use to hav collars that would shock if they got to far. The home base controller box was inside house and they had certain size area to stay in yard. I can ask her more about what she had if u are interested. We loved it. The collar would give a beep if they were about to get shocked and they would scurry back from shock line
I am guessing U would only want to do it if your dog was Over a year old r not a puppy
