Is there a good deer processor somewhere not too far from Clanton, Alabama?

Well, there’s David’s and Ratliff’s. They aren’t too far.

Also fixing to be a new one in maplesville on 22 at the feed store.

This is not that close to u - but I been wanting to try her - hard to justify traveling 2 1/2 hours one way - but clanton only an hour from her - i would give Shannon’s place in shorter a try if I was only hour away - hear it is phenomenal. U may want to call ahead and make sure she can take it

You have to pay for hooks there now can’t just drop one off I’m pretty sure.

That correct. You have to pay $200 before season to reserve 5 hooks then you still have to pay full price for each deer to be processed (I may not be correct on the prices)
I personally would not pay for the hooks and I hunt less than 15 miles from Shannas. I’d stop at Bucksters on Ann street in Montgomery.

Shannons' prices are higher.....but she guarantees the meat you get is from YOUR DEER.

She does a good job. I’ve used her in the past. I just can’t justify paying $200 for 5 hooks when I usually only kill 1-2 deer a year. And again please don’t quote me on the price but I think that is correct.

I tried some sausage from a MS processor a buddy of mine had - it was phenomenal

Was not sure what they charged but I was goi g to drive over and give them a deer to do all in that magnificent link sausage. So t even remember the name anymore - called them - they were not taking any customers

So since you have to buy those hooks. Are you guaranteed they will take your deer when you bring one in no matter what?

Yes. If you don't pay for the hooks and you want her to process a deer you have to quarter it up yourself.

Its a lot of money but still better than hearing "Sorry we are full"

I've used Ratliff in Maplesville at least once, and they do a great job.

Bump. Looking for someone in between Clanton and 280 area of Bham. Can either be off 65 or 280 coming from Clanton. Reed's seems to be right on my way if anyone knows anything about them. Looking for someone that'll take deer and possibly hogs.

Not the cheapest but always pleased with product.

A man I go to church with is in the process of opening a deer cooler in harpersville about 1.5 miles north off 280. I believe he is taking pigs as well. I'll get some more info this weekend. Think he's planning on opening up for gun season.
