I heard rumor about Cahaba. come on now. no suspense i do know the old warden/biologist Chas Moore left to pursue better options within the Dept. also RMS pulled all their land out ...from what i hear part of the agreement was the state was to maintain the road system on the wma and that was a job in its self. esp when the state tells the cahaba wma warden that he is now over Autauga, and Mulberrry Fork. so yea it be hard as hell to work all three and do a decent job.. Chas was one of the best

You thought that would go to bettering/adding public lands? Nah, probably earmarked for R&D on the next round of bureaucratic hoops hunters will have to jump through (and pay for) to go kill one of the state’s animals. Can’t be letting folks go out and shoot an animal without the state getting a piece of it.

From the sound of things, money is tight. The leased WMAs like Sam R Murphy and Cahaba cost way too much. Forever Wild is purchasing some property but they won't help pay for the leases. Here lately, FW seems to be more worried about purchasing small out of the way tracts that nobody will set foot on nor can anyone maintain them.

Cahaba is a garbage dump masquerading as a WMA. It’s very bad for trash along the roads. Hate to see it. FW just ok’d buying some land next to the new area north of the river toward 13. But lots of roads are in rough shape. Couldn’t get in very far on west blocton side of the river just over the bridge last year.
