Trying to gauge the price of hiring a guy to come clear out some poplar, sweetgums and more privet with one of the skid steer shredders. Anyone know what the going rate per hour for the machine and operator?

Probably looking around 100-140 per hr depending where youre at. Most have a 4 hour minimim.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts,hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

I had a guy down here clear privet for $85 an hour. His machine was on the small side hp-wise but he did a lot of work in a couple of days.

There's a huge difference in knowing how to run it versus knowing how to run it effectively. I've seen guys that REALLY knew how to run equipment take a smaller piece and do two to three times more than someone on a bigger piece of equipment that just knew how to make it go left and right and so forth. You'll probably do better to hire someone. You'll also have a tougher time just renting this equipment if you decided to do it yourself. A lot of inexperienced people get hurt with skid steers that have brush cutter attachments and rental companies are leary of renting them to folks if they don't know what they are doing. Many rental companies don't even carry the brush cutter attachments just for this reason.
