Mother in law says hallowpenis for jalapenos. My kids try to trick her into saying it and then die laughing when she does.

I also see "casted" in some fishing stories: Jawbone casted his shad guts into the eddy hoping for a bite from a big catfish.

Another legit phrase, albeit old and now revived is "try and ...", such as this: Jawbone hopes to try and catch a big catfish. Or also, "Jawbone tried and failed to catch a big catfish."

Why not just use "Jawbone hopes to catch a big catfish" or "Jawbone failed to catch a big catfish" instead of a weird, dated phrase?

What I've discovered is that most uses in these instances are by young people who have been told "just write, it doesn't matter" or they get a ribbon for creating a "story" in school, or they don't have editors with spines who correct their work (or no editor at all). And so we get stories with costed and casted and "tried and ..." and other unusual phrases or words.

Jawbone always hopes to catch a big catfish except when he is fishing off his brother's pier on Perdido Bay. Then that is about all he catches.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

This is Alabama, we have expectations and that expectation is to stay one notch above Mississippi on edjumacation. Lowering our expectations would sure as hell put us at the bottom of the list.

I'd be in the market for another accountant to listen to. I struggled to pass the first accounting class in college and I know the difference.

Wife's aunt traveled over to a big city in Alabama, Thomasville I think it was...anyway she called my wife and said, "Amy I got me one of them you know Kal - zon - es today. It sure was good. It was like a pizza folded over." I about died laughing when I heard it. She's from Sweetwater, by the way.

Dad used to say, change the Earl in the car. Wersh rag. Crazy stuff.

Gonna so put that in a few emails at work. I play the Alabama card all the damn time. Keep them expectations low so I come across as a little bit better.

"Pacific" for "specific". had a friend that just could not say specific. I would ask him to say specific and he could not do it. Something in the brain, I guess.

I guess kinda like the folks who can't say "ask". Instead it's "axe". Never understood that.
