Neither sides politicians are innocent but a lot of the Ukrainian citizens are. This is just a quagmire at this point and as long as Russia has been there already it's sort of surprising that Zelensky is still alive. Either Russia is a LOT less effective at the cloak and dagger stuff as they were in the cold war or there is more to this than meets the eye. Either way would be believable to me. On a side note the Special Forces that we have deployed all over Europe are training up the Ukrainian soldiers for counterinsurgency and guerrilla warfare and they are doing there jobs really well.

Zelenksy is the lesser of two evils. This whole situation is just Eastern Europe being Eastern Europe, not much different than us intervening in the Middle East.

Russia invading Ukraine is a centennial event, they do it because all Russians would die without their breadbasket and winter ports. The prospect of Ukraine joining NATO is an existential crisis for Russia. Even if Putin is dying, whoever takes his place will probably continue the war effort.

Russia is a paper tiger, and always has been technologically speaking. They have the uncanny ability to die by millions and keep on fighting though. They are far more willing to suffer than us fatties in the west are. I don't think we'll win. One cold winter in Europe will have them kissing Putin's Superbowl ring.

If Brandon actually wanted to stop Russia, he would open up pipelines and expand energy production. Putin loosing his leverage over Western Europe would be far more effective than any of our weapons. The Brandon administration wouldn't get any emergency wartime powers though.

I think Russia lost too many people in WWII to keep up the whole “die by millions” M.O. much longer. They lost 26 million people. To compare, Japan lost something like 3 million in WWII.

That’s 26 million people who never had the luxury of a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild like we do here. It’s something to think about.

Before Hitler invaded Russia, They had massive losses to napoleon invading. Human lives are not a very efficient renewable resource and it’s rearing it’s ugly head to the kremlin now.

They had millions starve to death before WW2 even started. WW1 wiped out a generation of young men. They have a long history of tyrants committing wholesale slaughter, and they just keep on keeping on. Mongolian conquest was over a century of genocide, and they just kept on keeping on. Nobody dies like Russians. Don't underestimate them. Ask Napoleon and Hitler.

Edit: Also keep in mind that it will only take a few hundred thousand Western Europeans freezing to death before they give Putin what he wants.
