Thanks for all the posts guys. Looks like Tikka is winning so far. I actually have the Tikka T3X in 6.5 cm and it shoots well at the range but haven't shot a deer with it yet. I also have the Bergara in .308 and dropped a few deer where they stood last year. I will be buying a new rifle next year because I just want one. I will probably lean more towards the pretty side since all of my guns are composite work horses. With that said I think the X-Bolt medallion may be my choice. Just not sure what caliber. I have no need for long action and not very accurate with them anyway so I may just go with another .308 unless someone has a different opinion.

hard to beat a 308 but if you already got one in a turn bolt then spice it up man ! The Medallion is a great gun no doubt. But if Purdy is what your after, you won't beat a Winchester Model 70 especially in the Supergrade. They are FINE. I ought to be horse whipped for selling my 6.5 Creed Supergrade. I've never seen prettier wood on a rifle costing 10 times that. The Walnut blanks of that grade alone run over what that gun cost. Deep bluing, fine, fine rifle. But locating one in a short action is hard. I've been looking.

Brand new? Tikka

I own 700s and Montanas. Have had 70s and Bergaras. Nothing bad in your list…..just think new value is better for the Tikka…..but I’d own any of them again….along with Howas, Rugers, and some others. Just glad Savage wasn’t in the same sentence with the others. For ‘pretty’, it’s hard to beat 70s with good wood.

Ben if you want a short action but want to mix it up a little, look into a .338 federal or a .358 Winchester. They are off the path a little but do not disappoint.

An x-bolt medallion in 308 would be super sweet
Winchester model 70 featherweight are beautiful as another blued wood option
X bolt medallions are beautiful so definitely a good choice

Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in 270. Nothing else even comes close for the price.

Tikka T3X, then Bergara

For #7, assuming we're doing factory rifles, it would be a Sako 85 classic in 270win.

I like my Bergara bettr than the tikka I hav - trigger bettr and bolt smoothness better

The 2506 tikka kicks less than my 308 Bergara but the 308 don’t kick hard

The only head to head review I watched online gave weatherby the nod over about 8 other rifles including Tikka and Bergara - never owned a weatherby. The second place winner was the Bergara followed by a close Tikka. The 70 r browning were not in that competition

I have a maple 308. It's beautiful. Looking for a walnut with the right grain like my 6.5 had.

Tikka from your list.

You could look at an older Steyr, beautiful wood, some with low prices on gun broker.
