Reckon what they will do when they run out of charge on the Cades Cove loop?

I have a buddy who I swear must have been to Branson Mo forty times and Gatlinburg close to the same. His wife loves that type of venue.

Prior to my divorce, my wife and the kids we went every year for 15 yrs. I haven't been since the fall of 2015. Lot of memories don't know if I could now.

Edit: to say Gatlinburg area that is.

Used to go as a kid before it got so ridiculously commercialized, was nice then. Total shitshow now. The park is great but you couldn't pay me to go to gatlinburg again, crowded tourist trap imo.

One of my best friends will go at least 6 times a year. I just dont understand the allure. He takes all the grandkids with him and they have a great time. It just isnt for me. I havent been in about 20 years. I do enjoy the Dixie Stampede dinner show though. For a 7 hour drive, I would rather go south to the beach in the fall.

I can't stand a thief.

Last time I was there there was some semi famous country music star walking around with people fawning all over him like he was hot shucks. No idea who the dipshit was.

Dixie stampede is not what it used to be.

We went to Cades Cove but I don't remember going to the park at all. I don't even think about the park when I think about Gattingburg. I just remember pancake houses, knife shops, and all that kind of stuff. We went with 4 other couples who had been before and they never went to the park from what I remember.

The wife is still in the "lets go out and party" on vacation stage so just not for us right now.

Cades Cove is in the park.....but yeah, if you're going to Gatlinburg and you're spending little or no time in the National Park, then of course it's going to suck donkey balls. Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge without the National Park is basically just like a Walmart, a trailer park and one of those travelling carnivals that sets up in abandoned mall parking lots all got together and had a bastard child...

Got it... I guess we were in the park because we for sure went to Cades Cove... we are all big deer hunters so that was a must stop. Just don't remember getting out and hiking around to look at waterfalls or whatever the park has to offer.

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge:

8:00am Leave hotel/condo/cabin and get in SLOW traffic on way to breakfast

8:30am in line for breakfast with a 1 hour wait

9:30 seated at table

10:40 leave restaurant

1:20 minutes to do what you want before lunch

Noon in line at restaurant to eat, 1 hour wait

1:00pm seated

2:15pm leave restaurant

3 hours 45 minutes to stand in long lines and crawl through traffic until you get in line to eat supper/dinner

6:00pm in line at restaurant with 1:45 wait

9:15pm leave restaurant

Crawl in traffic to next destination.

Summary:
In a 12 hour day you will spend the majority of it in traffic, waiting in lines and waiting to eat. Not my cup of tea.
You’ll easily spend 6 hours per day waiting in line to eat, waiting to order your food, waiting to be served your food that you’ve ordered

Y’all enjoy.

Here's what our normal day looks like when we go up there...

8(ish) - get to breakfast (usually either Pancake Pantry or Log Cabin.....if you get there around 8ish, you usually will wait less than 15 minutes at PP and probably no wait at all at LC)

9:30ish - get into park and go do ________________________

Lunchtime - stop somewhere in the park for a picnic lunch (sandwiches, chips, etc)

After lunch - do more [whatever] in the park

Grab dinner maybe around 6-7ish. We don't wait in line anywhere b/c even the places you have to wait for aren't very good. Gatlinburg is definitely NOT a "food destination".

After dinner, walk around for an hour or so, then back to the hotel.

It sounds to me like some of y'all are overcomplicating it.......or maybe you just don't like nature as much as you thought you did if you spend more time in town than you do the park itself.
