Lower units are a PITA. I wouldn’t trade my spot lock trolling motor for the world when I’m saltwater fishing. What size boat do you have?

If SEI makes one for your motor, that's what I'd go with. I had to put a lower on a Yamaha I use to have. I'm pretty sure Klay recommended the SEI. It's a Chinese lower unit, but I tried one anyway. Broke it in like the manual said and never had one minutes problem with it. This was 4-5 years ago. It was $850 and a rebuilt Yamaha was over $2K
