Good lookin peach trees. What variety are they? Carored, desiree, flavorich, garnet beauty, flaming fury, red haven, cary mac, harvester, contender, bounty, georgia bell, indian, redskin alberta, flaming prince, Victoria, 3 varieties of nectarines, 4 varieties of plums, 6 pear trees and a couple of Asian persimmons. Weve also got a few more varieties in our other two orchards. The other two orchards belong to my stepmother and a friend of mine whos husband was a good friend of mine. Ive had those two orchards leased since him and my dad died. The orchard in the picture belongs to my wife and i. We will start picking out of it next year, Lord willing.

Good to hear. I planted 7 peach trees. All Georgia Belle. About 5ft tall 2mo ago. Can't wait till they are big! I hate to be a downer but heres the deal on Georgia belles. Theyre an old peach so everyone knows what they are and that is the one and only reason they are popular at all. They are a good tasting peach and they set a good crop almost every year, cold hearty as well. On the down side, they bruise very easy and are almost impossible to store or ship, unless you pick them green. Out of 500 trees, we planted 10 Georgia belles just because some people ask for them because theyve been around forever. As a commercial peach producer they are the absolute hardest peach i know of to market. For a homeowner i guess they wouldnt be an awful peach. They grow fast and make a good crop. Thin them really good if you want them to be any size. I would also suggest this if planting several peach trees, as a hobby. Look at the ripening dates and plant trees that will ripen 2-3 weeks apart starting in late may to early june and going through mid to late august. You can have 8-10 trees and have peaches getting ripe all summer. If your seven trees grow like the tree in the picture, in six years youll have about 100 baskets of really delicate peaches that dont keep well to do something with about the end of July. If i were you, i would do away with six of the georgia belles and plant other trees that will not come in all at the same time. You could plant a carrored, red haven, bounty, georgia belle, redskin alberta, flaming prince, and a victoria and you would have peaches from early june to late august. All of those are good producing varieties for us. I could also tell you how to do that for $15, two trips to my house and a couple hours work. We have some peaches coming in with good root stock, you come buy a basket of them from me, plant the seeds, by june next year, theyll be ready to graft. Then you come back down here next june and ill give you some budwood and you can graft the trees you want. Its pretty easy to do and you can point at your trees and say "i made those".

Where do you get ur trees? Do u plant seed an graft them ur self or buy them already grafted ? If so where do you get them. I don t have knowledge do the grafting .is there certain kinds that grow better in certain areas?. I live in northwest al an mine are very slow growing . I have two trees don t have any idea what kind . I planted the seed in flower bed from some I bought I guess at Walmart. I do know they the open stone peaches an big. The squirrel s usually gets mine before they ripe. They got all my pears this year an they was loaded down. I would like couple good peach, plum an apple trees that grow good in my area but don t have a clue bout what kind or where to get them. I ordered 5 apple trees from some online company 4 years ago . They was maybe ft tall an haven t growed another ft since I got them. May be my soil or wrong kind for area .
