I just picked up a 300WM and I’ll be loading up some rounds for it. I’ve poked through all my manuals and the loads and powders are more than I care to try. I’m going to be using a 200 gr Hornady ELD-X bullet.

Curious what has worked well for some of y’all. Thanks in advance!

For bullet performance I was really impress with a 180 Scirracco. They expand well for a heavy and shot straight.

I've got one 300 win mag that just likes H4831 powder, no matter the bullet. I've used 180 gr Accubonds in the past and I now shoot 190 gr Berger's in it. I won't tell you my charge because it's several grains more than max loads in the guides, but it works without pressure issues in this gun. Other powders, R22, H1000 and a couple others I've tried have not had the same accuracy in this gun.

My other 300 win mag I load a 180 gr Sierra GK over 71 gr of IMR 4350. Just a little over 3000 FPS.

R22, R23, IMR7977, H1000 would be a good starting point with the 200 gr bullets IMO.

4350 and 4831 have definitely been my hard looks. I’ve never used Retumbo but there seems to be a lot on it as well.

Both my WM and H&H get loaded with IMR 4831. Have been using the old orange bottle on thos two for years. I didnt have as good of luck with IMR 4350 but YMMV. I do NOT load over 180gr for either as it just works well for me. A good friend likes H1000.

I’m with Jtb51b. That little orange IMR bottle works for my 300WM as well. 208 gr ELD-M’s through my daddy’s old A-Bolt produced 3/4 MOA with the first load I tried. I experimented with 212 gr. ELD-X’s and got similar results. I bought some H1000 but haven’t bothered to try it yet.

I’m interested to hear about anyone else’s success/failure with heavy grain projectiles as well.

IMR 4831 also works well in a 300 Winny. I loaded 180 gr Barnes for a friend of mine's A Bolt using IMR 4831 with good accuracy and velocity.

But DO NOT substitute load data for H4831 for IMR 4831.

This is good news. I’m going to start out with my IMR 4831 and see what happens. I bought two jugs of it last year just because stock everywhere was low and it was on the shelf.

Thanks for all the input y’all
