The heat has beat this old man down. So Don and I did a night fishing trip. We got to the dam and I watched Don catch 16 skipjack. We then anchored downstream and set up for the night. The last fish was caught at 10:30, but it took us until 12:30 to finally figure out the fish had quit biting. 😆 Ended up with a 37, 12, 17, 10, and 11. Missed a 100 lb night by 11lbs.

Here is the 37.

All released so someone else can enjoy catching them. If I want to keep catfish, I downsize and go after the ones that are 5lbs or less.

I NEVER keep a blue or channel to eat, regardless of size. Now, flatheads on the other hand.....

Nice fish. Me and the kid went last night and sweat was pouring off me at midnight. We fished a golf course and struck out. The ponds were low on water. I think the water is too hot for them to feel good.

You can filet them strip the meat out, brine in over night and smoke it with hickory wood. Some really good meat. You wouldnt know you were eating a huge fish. Good stuff.

I keep blues all the time. Fillet, but don’t go as deep against the skin as a crappie to avoid the red meat. Cut the line out of each fillet. Then soak in ice water a while with salt. Fine eating.

If I was going to keep a fish, I would have kept that 37. When I lifted it up to weigh it, the SOB slapped me in the balls with its tail. If my eyesight was better, I wouldn't have to hold fish so close to read the weight. grin
