That's likely Yellow Nutsedge. I fought it for years because I didn't want to spray Sedgehammer in my garden. I finally gave up and built raised beds. I still had a little grow through the heavy groundcover in the bottom of the bed and through 15" of compost. One pulling up of each has either finally starved the nut, or it's just laying there waiting on next spring.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

ERASER.................... Won’t kill it. It will burn it down at 6oz per gallon but it’ll just grow right back from the nut. You can spray it 5 times a summer for 3 years and not kill it. Ask me how I know

Outrider or Sedgehammer are the best you will find on it. Both do have a little soil residual, but if you go late this summer and don’t do a winter garden, it should be fine for spring.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

Just a FYI, but chufa is a different plant from that. That is just yellow nutsedge; it's usually called nutgrass around here. It ruins a chufa field if it gets established in it.
