Has begun on my lease. And whoever said the loggers wouldn't help me out on some greenfield expansion and cutting roads for our benefit, well that isn't what my experience with them is going to be.

They offered to help before I asked. What I saw today, they already opened up an area where I had a small field, and now we can make it long and wider. He was going to widen another one for me too.

Even if that was all I get, it would be way better than nothing. Should be done before hunting season too.

Sort of hate it for the folks that didn't renew. They have no idea what they are going to miss out on.

If you’re as happy with the logging crew when they leave as you are now then I’d buy them a couple cases cold beer and maybe a smoked ham or two. Loggers and helpful don’t always go hand in hand.

They opened up the food plots because they’re fixing to be a log landing.

For damn sure. Fuckers cutting the property behind my lease had to go through me. They screwed up my field they went through and screwed up the main road. I haven’t been back to see if rms made them come fix it in a month and a half but I will before I pay my lease.

RMS is who my lease is with and we just had 300 acres thinned back in feb/march.. logging crew completely destroyed the road system. after they left RMS sent their own road guy to fix them.. he did a jam up job with the hand he was dealt

I’m jealous. I have about 50 acres I wish to heck they would come get out. They were supposed to move in just before the one deluge in 2 months and my place needs to be dry.

They did the same when they thinned but this was a private landowner who used a logging crew to go through them.

Damn, y’all are rough on loggers.
You’d be surprised what a couple cases of cold beer and a few boxes of fried chicken will get you.
Some prefer one or the other, some like both!

They didn’t go through “you”, they went through RMS.
You paid for the right to hunt the property and that’s the only rights that you have.
The $10/acre that you paid for the hunting rights is no comparison to the $300-$400/acre revenue on a thinning or the $2,000+ per acre on the final harvest.

They didn’t make anything on this I’m aware of it was not their property that was cut. It was a private landowner who couldn’t get to the back side of their property. Rms thinned their property several years ago and left it better then when they got there. The loggers cutting this property left it worse then when they got there.

10-4. More than likely, the logger had to put up a performance bond or at least sign a crossing agreement with RMS in order to gain access. I’m sure it’ll get fixed once it dries out.

Yes timber co land. They have come out and bulldozed roads already. Which means I can get a lime truck in. I'll definitely buy them some beer or whatever. Plus I have a mamber with a skid steer.

I told they I was the lease holder and would be out there pretty regularly checking cameras and spraying and mowing as needed.

I would think they would prefer not to have the lease holder fussing about them messing fields up to the timber co. Especially the ones on the Westervelt map of lease. The guy I talked to said he noticed I had a lot of clover in the fields sand I told him it was whitetail clover.

Honestly if I had to do a little do over work on a few that wouldn't be to awful if they help me in other areas.

The majority of the good loggers have all died or went out of business

Most are lazy and have no respect now days. Too many kids taking over daddy business.

We all have seen the changes over the past 10 years. At least up here anyway.

Well

I went to looked at our current cutting on our farm this morning

They destroyed a two row breaking plow, cultivator and ladder stand all laying together. For sure one sawtooth with a tree tube and most likely three more.

Tried to hide the equipment in a brush pile but I found it.
