I’ve never tried to trap pigs. I’ve just had a sounder show up on a lease and want them gone. Do the DIY C-fence traps work? I really don’t want to invest in a bought trap because I may lose the lease. Also, I’m of the understanding the pigs need to be trapped and kept alive until ready to process. Is this true?

Spend the money on the trap if you want them gone. Also processors who will do wild pigs take them dead. It’s illegal to move wild hogs alive fyi.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

You can build a circle trap with 6 foot T-post and fencing.

I built 2 of these about 10 years ago for a around $250 ea but I'm sure it would cost a lot more now. I gave 1 away when I lost my lease but may still have the guillotine door for 1 if you want it. I'll have to check the shed.

I have heard, but can't confirm, that the NRCS has cost share programs for hog traps in AL.

Kind of correct, it’s actually with Soil and Water Conservation. I got in the program in Conecuh County and they paid for 70% of the Pig Brig trap and T posts. You front the $$ to buy it and they reimburse you SEVERAL months later.

You can build a circle trap with t posts and 5’ high panels. Use a guillotine style drop door and root stick on rebar.
Bait them where you want them for a few days, partially build the trap, keep feeding, then complete the trap, add the door and keep it open, keep feeding and monitor it all with a camera. Don’t put bait anywhere near the root stick area until the day you decide they’re ready to trap. Follow those steps and you should catch them all. Don’t set the trap door until you know they’re all going in. And don’t build the trap first and then try to bait them in. Catch them where they are feeding now or close by.
