I won't got rifle hunting without my 10x50 binoculars but I don't have a compact pair to take bow hunting. Anyone have a good set they'd recommend? I'd like something in the 7X-8X range and no more than $150. Personal experiences with them would be nice.

If you can see far enough to use noculars ,you're not hunting in thick enough cover ! LOL

I don't recommend using binos too much while bowhunting. JMO.

I use Pentax 8x32 DCF SP for bow and turkey hunting and scouting. You will not get a new pair for that price, might find a used DCF version under $200. They are excellent and perfect size ,IMO. I tried some compacts and sold them quickly.

Thanks for the replies. My 10x50 binos are Pentax I'll look into those.

Use what ya have. I use 10X40 Kahles and feel lost if I don't have them. It's amazing what you can actually see at distance in thick woods with them. Any small movement get the binos on it and check it out. It may be a big buck you need to call/rattle to if he isn't coming your way.

Don't go with small diameter compact glasses...they have poor light gathering ability. I use my wifes Zeiss 8X50 a lot for evening hunts because of the light gathering. No need to handicap yourself.

^^^^ This, In thick cover they can be on ya quick. Maybe over a plot and after the leaves fall when in the woods. IMHO

I usually bow hunt all season, so they would come in real handy when the leaves fall. Like Fred said, you can pick up movement even in thick stuff with binos. A ear here, a tine tip there.

I have gone back and forth using them and not using them. But, it never fails, when I don't have them, I see a buck out of bow range that I want to take a closer look at. Now I take them every time. I use Bushnell Trophy 10x42. The bino harness keeps them snug to my body when not in use and does not get in the way drawing back.

Always use Crooked Horn Bino System harness.

I got some last year, didn't want the real small ones but didn't want to carry a big set with me either. Decided on a 6x from Leupold. I like them a lot...

I bought an ATV to get to my hunting area, now half the fun of hunting is the ride in and out.
