This made me think. My memory tells me I've never bought a new vehicle.
Hate dealerships is mostly the reason. Only buy online now.

I've had 6 trucks and 3 cars in my 26 years of driving and that's not counting my wife's and sons cars. I've kept a few of her old cars for daily drivers when we bought her new ones. I've bought 3 brand new vehicles and a couple a year or two old

I buy new and drive them till they are no longer cost affective to maintain. I don’t have issues with buying new. I know what I’m getting and I know how it’s been maintained. The important thing to me is to drive it till it dies.

Prior to age 30 I bought 3 new cars with 2 being demos the last one costing $9k. In the next 30 I haven’t bought any new with the last one @ $25k. They’ve gotten insanely expensive. But the longevity of even the American made cars is so much better than 44 years ago when I bought my first car. That was a $500 1965 mustang with flaking bondo 125,000 miles and 3 different colors two of which where rattle canned. It ran on craftsman sockets and wrenches and was held together by road grime build up. Best learning experience of my life involved keeping her going so I didn’t have to ride that damn bus with the other poor kids.

We buy a couple of years old and drive to the wheels fall off. The wife has 280,000 on her Grand Cherokee and has been driving on 5 cyl for a year.😳I got to buy something soon and hating it bad.

In 1999 I bought a dealer1998 Z-71 with 30,000 miles on it for $18,000 out the door from said dealer. Still have it now with 296,000 on it. 6 months ago I bought a 2013 Four runner Limited 2wd loaded out with 127,000 miles for $18,000. Same price I paid for the Z one year old. I guess that's my limit. LOL

My wife drives new ones which she works for the sole purpose of paying for. The last new one I bought for myself was in 2003. I've had new ones since then but I bought them through company reimbursement programs at work because I had to have them for work. Basically, I picked it out and they made the payment and I got to keep the vehicle. Personally, I don't see ever buying a new one for myself. Just too high

I buy used Toyota Tacomas when someone makes an offer on the one I am driving that I cant refuse. In todays market, cars and homes are both way overpriced.

Welcome to ALDeer where real men drive clapped out trucks with 300k miles and only an IDOT would pay for a new truck Picture me rollin’ 😈 On the contrary. The used stuff i buy is extremely nice. I could put you in my 2011 4RUNNER with 225k miles or my 2015 lexus with 70k miles , blindfolded , and there is no way you would know they weren't new based on the ride and condition of the interior. I drove the 4RUNNER to Maryland and back when it turned 200k and just drove the lexus to Dallas from Nashville. I don't fault anyone for buying whatever they want but I bet I've probably spent less than anyone on this site on repairs in the last 25 years. 1 wheel bearing and a set of front rotors and we think that was caused by the aftermarket rims. That's it in 25 years.

Sounds like you got a couple real nice vehicles and I would be thrilled with that kind of repair bill over 25yrs! My post wasn’t a mean spirited jab at anybody in particular just having fun with some of the posts that have been made. These threads always get a good chuckle.
