You can come help me work around the farm Saturday then you won't have to find so many activities to do. LOL
Cathedral caverns is a must if you've never been to a big cave. I would gladly take you fishing but I do not get on the water on holiday weekends. Too much stupid out there. If you want to fish, bring some rods and you and your wife can fish in our pond or go below the dam (on the Union Grove side) and fish from the bank. Either one is guaranteed fish. Definitely go to the state park and walk around. It'll be much different terrain than you're used to. It's beautiful and most of us take it for granted.
The restaurants mentioned are good choices.
Oh, oh, oh. On the eats, take your wife to South Sauty and eat at the cafe. It's fancy, and good. I can't remember the name of it, but with me posting this, someone will know the name. A state park trip, followed up with a meal at South Sauty would be a trip your wife will remember a long time. It's a beautiful, curvy drive and both are on the same main road. You could leave the cafe, continue north, which will take you to Scottsboro. You'd turn west on Hwy 72, then turn left on Hwy 79 and come back to Guntersville. Make a big loop.
If y'all want to go to church Sunday, you can go with me. Yes on the Homecoming Cafe at South Sauty. Mrs. Irish has been trying to get me to go there. I hear the food is excellent. Like high end excellent. I agree on Cathedral Caverns too.

Her specials on Friday and Saturday night so far have missed the mark both times we've tried. Like, 4 people eating and no one finished there meal, bad. The regular menu items are some of the best I've had.

Another vote for Cathederal Caverns. Rock House restaurant in Guntersville is great food.

Lots of good suggestions here. I appreciate all of your responses. We probably won't have time to do and go everywhere suggested but we will do some of these. Thanks guys.

We had nothing to do with where it is, just something he done on his own. I accepted it as a kind gesture and will go and enjoy it. The main thing is it is a place for us to get away from it all and relax. The wife and I have had two or three rough weeks the last few weeks. Her 86 year old mother had a pretty bad stroke and my 80 year old Dad had to have emergency small intestine surgery last week. His small intestine perforated. We have had our plates full. Looking forward to this trip just to unwind and relax.

We arrived in GV around 2:30 this afternoon. Got to the cottage and got everything unloaded. Decided to head out for dinner so we decided on Top O' The River. Got here 30 minutes before they opened and got in line. Got a good window seat looking out over the water and the pier. Hope the food is as good as you guys say...
