There’s an old Archie Phillips video from the Alabama River at Selma (I think that’s where it was) jiggerpole fishing that’s a blast.
I’ve never done it but looks like a lot of fun.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

There is a video on YouTube of a couple of guys doing it on Jones Bluff and catching bass after bass. I would think that it will work like that only certain times of the year, but it was impressive the way they caught them that day. It's gotta be one of the oldest bass fishing methods. William Bartram wrote about his canoe trips through FL in the 1770s and he claimed to have literally filled the canoe with big bass using a jigger pole with bright feathers as his bait. But he also claimed that some of them weighed 30 lbs, which makes me think he might have been no different than many fishermen today and been willing to stretch the truth a bit. . I'm sure he did catch a bunch of big bass. Imagine fishing those places back then. I don't know what kind of pole you bought, but I would just cut a long rivercane if I were gonna do it. Good luck! Here's the video; you have probably already watched it but others might find it interesting. https://youtu.be/yXvwxqr5HDw

Used a Hiwaiian (sp) Wiggler. Bass would scare the crap out of you when they hit in the dark. We fished ponds. Don't know why but most poles were painted dark green. Also used black braid, but that was about all we had, back in the day.

I got a buddy over in Foley that has caught a ton of bass that way. 20 ft, bream buster,80# test line and a big broken back creek chub.
