In Birmingham on Wednesday, Saban said Texas A&M "bought every player" they signed this year, referring to the NIL and lax regulations.
Fisher this morning at his TAMU press conference pretty much called Saban a lying, unethical hypocrite and challenged anyone to look into the Bama program and how they do things.
In 35 years of watching the SEC sporting scene and national football in general, I don't recall such heat. Spurrier gouged other coaches and dinged FSU, but it was gamesmanship.
This is more. I suspect the SEC will get involved to tamp things down before they get to the SEC Meetings in Florida in a few weeks. But for now, wow. This is wild.

I think people are mis-understanding the difference between the NIL's and the "collectives". NIL's are paying players, yes (for some sort of "service"...name, image or likeness). The nil collectives is just a pot of money boosters throw together to buy players. Has nothing to do with names, images or likeness. I don't care for the blm loving saban's opinions on a lot of things, but he called this when the nil was approved and he's just calling out what aTm and others are doing.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

IMO…Jimbo came off looking like a hot head with an ill tempered knee jerk reaction to me. Maybe I misread Saban’s quote but he didn’t say A&M did anything illegal, he just said A&M’s roster was bought and paid for with NIL. Jimbo wanted to keep harping on “we haven’t done anything illegal in the state of Texas….” Well no chit Jimbo, NCAA legalized the NIL chit show. Saban has pointed out potential problems with NIL from day 1 and has been fairly consistent on his stance.
I’ll get the popcorn ready. I can’t wait to see how this pans out.
If he’d said 17yr old one more time I’d punch him in the throat. How many 17yr olds could possibly be on A&M’s roster??

I agree. The 'collectives' are just pooling money to buy players with any some sort of service. Come to my kids birthday party and be the 'entertainment' and I'll pay you big $$$ that I got from the collective my buddies. It's legal, no worries.
Even the NFL has caps but no such limits with NCAA. Sooner or later they will be openly paying Jr High star players to do car washes that pay $10,000 for him to hold a sponge and promise to go to State U.

The 17-year-old mentions were to make listeners think "about these poor young boys we're helping."
Bullshizzle. coaches have done this forever. Pat Dye and Gene Stallings were great at it. They call them "17- and 18-year old boys" when they need to bitch at the media about something. "these boys" were arrested for something. "These boys" were caught getting a few dollars but they need som help. "Y'all need to lay off writing your chit about these boys ..." when they get in trouble.
But when they win a game or make a big play, they're "tough young men" who deserve all the accolades. Stacey Danley probably has brain damage from the shot he took against Ohio State in the bowl game in Tampa. But he was a "tough young man" when he got up and wobbled to the sideline like Dye wanted.
Jimbo's playing that young man card superbly. He learned it from the best - Bowden and Saban.
As for the NIL and buying players, what's been going on in the past everywhere is now just out in the open.

I think Coach Saban is making a scene to highlight the need to regulate the NIL. It will ruin College football and whoever has the most money to pay players will win out in the NIL scene that We have today. There is no way most schools will be able to recruit fairly with schools like Texas and Texas A&M with the billions of dollars in endowment those schools have. Maybe Texas or Texas A&M can just buy a championship since that is what essentially is going on. They still have to have the right chemistry with the coaches and players but Recruiting is the #1 ingredient to get it all started.

Exactly. He bitched like a bitch the other night and named A&M specifically.
Everyone knows bama and Saban have cheated for years. Now it’s gonna start flowing like wine…you watch.
Saban must be getting ready to retire.
Burbank been waiting on something like this since January 2007 😃

Can anyone name a coach that's done less with more than Jimbo? I remember deep pining for Jimbo from Uab and AU. The gnashing of teeth from apathetic uab "fans" oh if only Jimbo was here they wouldn't shutdown the program. During one of AU's searches the call to hire Jimbo was loud...whomever said No was looking out for the Family. College football has changed tremendously but coaching has not could Jimbo measure up to the coaches of yesteryear? I don't think so.

I lost a lot of respect for Saban when he made that march supporting a domestic terrorist group that is BLM. He told me and many other life long Bama fans that day that he don't give a chit about anybody else but him. So I have a problem believing anything he says. He even sounds like a whinny bitch democrat.

I think there's obviously some backstory between Nick and Jimbo, but they also are making this public to try to force the issue about the NIL regulations, collectives and all that.
And Saban always seems to squawk the loudest, in public, about something he dislikes and wants changed. One example is the High School Hurry-Up that Malzahn tried 10 or so years ago. Defenses couldn't sub or get set, "that's not fair!" and all that, and he whined about "safety" along with saying he thought it was bullchit. He would've fit in with the coaches who bitched when the forward pass began being used, citing "safety" and how not repeatedly running the ball face-first into a scrum for three hours wasn't manly.
Tactics. It's all just tactics.
I like how the other SEC coaches are sitting back quietly for now. Even Kiffen is like, "Nah, ain't touching all this." Kirby is over in Athens whackin' off to his championship. Napier is like "Damn, they're going to ask me about it since I worked for him."
And Harsin is sitting there going "Yo, I'll trade y'all some backroom stabbin' coup mess for a little NIL juice!"
