I don't see how folks can sustain paying these inflated prices for everything. Something is about to blow up.

Saw a Forbes article earlier they expect gas $6/gal by end of summer.

What really jerks my chain is how the media talks about increases in gas prices over the last few months. This pic was recently put on FB by some of my wife's family located in central Florida. BIDEN SUCKS!!!

We just finished planting cotton and laying corn by last week. Running 4 tractors, 2 sprayers and semi's hauling water/nitrate we burned trough about 4000 gallons of diesel in (2 weeks). This is the most expensive crop we've planted in my 35yrs of farming. Now it looks like we're in a drought and get to start running irrigation.

I can't imagine. I have some good friends that farm 8,000 acres , you don't even bring up fuel prices around them.

I read an article today that 76 gas stations were reprogramming their pumps for >$10 a gallon.

National average November 2020 was $2.10 , January 2022 was $3.40 , today it's $4.56. Russia Invaded Ukraine in Feb. so it's all Putin's fault.

Every state is over $4 per gallon for gas.

And we get E15 this summer, which means it will be more expensive, because we will get worse gas mileage.

Yep. I filled my up at Costco on Sunday in Montgomery at 4.04. Drove down Chantilly and the Walmarks Murphy was 3.99. Surprised at that because it's never cheaper that the Costco. Got to Pike Road and the Chevron on 110 was 4.50.

I know that commute has got to be putting a big hurt on you.

Yeah I've quit looking at prices. We have no choice at this point but to buy it.

With regard to the currently obscenely high gas prices....what percentage do you think is directly related to current policies/economic factors, and what percentage do you think is oil/gas companies simply exploiting current events?

R's say it's 100% policy/economics; D's say it's 100% greed on the oil companies' part. I'm guessing the truth is somewhere in between

Here is my question to folks when they say it's the greedy oil execs. If the price of gas is all in their hands, why didn't they gouge us under Trump? It's policies and back door payouts. The Saudi's are paying our government to buy their oil. That's obvious. Why else would you immediately shut down the keystone pipeline and as of last week canceled all the Alaskan oil leases. Bribe money.

That's not really an fair price point. Nov 2020 was after the country had been pretty much shut down for 6 months. Demand for gas was super low. At that time people on this very site were saying gas was too low and the price needed to come up.
The price is stupid high now and something is going to give, just saying the comparison to Nov 2020 isn't all that relevant. Find a price from 2019, that would be a better comparison.
