I don't know how but I'm going to try. I keep two live traps around the house and firewood stacks and usually catch a couple of mice a week. Usually its straight into the 5 gallon bucket for a one way diving experience but next time I'll see if I can find a way use him for bait. Have to figure out how to set it up so Slick can get in and the mouse not get out.

I've taught a lot of venomous ones how to play dead.

There is nothing any better than having a big king & rat snake around your house.

I had a good size king in my shop years ago. He was trying to make his exit under the tin wall and I grabbed his tail. He hunkered those scales down like anchor bolts and I could not budge him. I never messed with him again.

Growing up in Central Florida back in the early 70's I used to catch snakes and at one time had a collection of over 100. Black Racers were the meanest SOB's around other than maybe a Garter Snake or Moccasin. They'd bite every time I handled them, never could get them to ever settle down. Used to sell them by-the-pound to a place that fed them to cobra's and rattlesnakes - place called the "Reptile Farm" in Titusville. They also bought Eastern Diamondback's from me by-the-pound. They then sold them to Ross Allen's Reptile Institute over in Silver Springs for use in developing anti-venom. I sold them so many diamondbacks that went to Ross Allen that he actually made a trip to Titusville to meet me - I was only 13 at the time. Autographed a copy of one of his snake books for me too. Fun times back then and fortunately I never got bit by any venomous snakes,

Uokman2014 - I am glad there are people like you that will catch them for the anti-venom.

However for myself, I will either let them be (most non-poisonous - water snakes die on occasion) or kill (a poisonous snake NEVER gets a pass) them. I have absolutely no interest in catching, handling, relocating,...etc. a snake. I have a buddy that would catch one (non-poisonous) in a second with his hands, it always kinda freaked me out - especially when he'd get bitten.

My Dad came up to see me a couple months ago. A black racer took off when we were walking in the yard. I chased it down and caught it. He looked at me like I was crazier than him and kept his distance. smile

Well they can train a dragon so I guess you can train a snake

Lol we had a big Tom like that he only ate out of his food bowl.

He'd go to the pond catch a pound catfish and wanna bring it in to eat it .
