http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wz1xmGKn87c&feature=relatedYall ever made your own shafts? If I were to use cedar or ash and do something similiar how would it work out? I know the indians done it and were not concerned about spine and all the technical stuff we invented but how accurate would they be? I really like making my own stuff when it comes to hunting/fishing so this got me curious. I hope to one day build a bow as well.

I use arrows made from Lodgepole Pine shafts, they are heavier than cedar, have some made from hickory, even heavier. You can make arras from river cane cut to length and dried, lot more work but they work.
You can buy shafts already spined in groups, a lot of archery supply places sell em
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

When I was at Moundville or Tannehill a few years ago I heard someone talking about some folks near Gadsden or Anniston who make shafts from river cane.
Didn't get their names, though, and wish I had done so.
