Last year my squash and zuccs were eaten up bad by bugs. Appeared that they would get into the hollow leave stalk and kill them slowly. I produced very few compared to previous years.

Anybody have some good tips to keep them at bay?

Plant early before it gets to hot.

I’ve watch several videos on this. An egg is layed by a wasp/fly/bug? People wrap the stalks with aluminum foil. Seems like a lot of trouble for a big garden. I’ve strayed a weak soapy water every couple day at the stalk base. I still had the bore worms but not as bad. If you find a sure shot solution let us know.

I’ve read about Sevin Dust, but I’m just not wild about putting chemicals on my plants

I’ve always heard you use Neem Oil on squash for bugs.

Starts in the soil if I'm not mistaken. Find you some 10% Sevin dust
