Unless you're using it for clearing heavy overgrowth, don't buy the biggest you can afford....they get heavy after the first 10-15mins. If on the tall side, get a straight shaft. If you don't have a lot to keep up, buy battery powered...they've come a long way, especially with the premium brands. I've got a Makita 36v (2 18v batteries...came with 4 and a dual battery charger in the kit) and it lasts longer than I expected it to and can use decent sized line in it.

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

FS110 will year it up. Runs like a champ and I don't baby it. Get a straight shaft.

I own alot of stihl products and they are good but I have an echo commercial grade straight shaft trimmer that I have abused for years around the farm and can't kill that thing. think it is over 12 years old!

Whatever one you get, I would make sure the harness is good or spend the money for a nicer harness if you are going with a commercial grade . Makes a big difference.

Get a commercial grade instead of home-recreation. Sturdier, more heft, will last longer, cuts through almost everything.

Also, get gas-powered. I have a battery-powered air blower that I use for our back patio. But it barely will blow leaves around in the yard. Pitiful.

Also, commercial grade will usually have more metal parts vs plastic, and there may be features that make field maintenance easier. I know that's the case on their chainsaws.

I have an FS 94R I think. It's a 4 stroke one, straight shaft that takes attachments. Its an absolute brute. It does get a little heavy with the articulating hedge head on it, but it comes with a shoulder strap.

Theys alot of brands out there..but when it comes to leaf blowers, weedeaters, and demo saws..its an echo..thats all i will ever own..having had to use them at my last job..we had a few stihls left that would still run..we could get 3..maybe 4 hard mowin seasons out of their flagship commercial models..thats crankem in the mornin..restem an hour at lunch..then runem til 4:30 or 5..we still had echos we bought 10 mowin seasons ago runnin like tops..as far as reliability and longevity..its echo hands down an 2nd place aint even close. I woulndnt have any weedeater husquvarna makes..ever one we had was garbage..shindaiwa is made by echo and far as i can tell..their models mirror echo. I personally have a srm-225 echo..its a straight shaft prosumer model you can get for a little over $200….i have absolutely tortured mine for 5 years and it is still goin strong..when it gives up(if🤷🏻)..ill never own anything but another evho..an i also have the static circle saw conversion for the head..not anattachment that slides out..you take off the whole head and replace with a skill saw blade, a spacer, and a left handed nut..a finer limb saw..for the moneythey aint one

Got one of those for the wife to blow off the patio, too....backpack blower is for the yard! Agreed, haven't seen a battery blower, yet, that will efficiently/effectively blow the yard leaves up. That's why the weedeater surprised me!

FWIW, i have several Stihl tools, including 6 trimmers. All are straight shaft and range from a 70 to several old FS240's and 250's, with the latest being, I think, a FS336. I have started switching over to Husqvarna. The reason is the inability to buy Stihl-brand parts on-line. You can buy third party parts for the them, but they really protect their dealerships as far as OEM of parts. Parts for most other brands are available on-line.

I bought a Kobalt 24Volt from Lowes and I love it. Super light weight. I also bought an extra battery. One battery will last me about 30 minutes of weed eating. If I don't get finished then I just slap the other one in. Best weed eater I have ever had.

I had the exact same one and loved it. Never even touched the gas powered weed eater hanging on the wall. Then the battery charger went out. It was cheaper to buy a new weed eater than to just buy a new charger.

Get a commercial grade gas powered and only use the premix gas on it. You’ll be good to go for a very long time. I went the 80V battery route and right back to gas when the battery crapped out and was $230 to replace. Screw that.
