My Costas broke and I’m not sending them back because since they were sold there glasses are junk imo.
What is everyone recommending / wearing?

Bajio Sunglasses. The people that used to run Costa when they were better quality have started another company.

What are the fake costas called? I am hard on sunglasses and cell phones. Always have them with me. I have probably donated 5 to smith lake alone! Love my costas but for $30 I could by a 10 pack and leave them around like my reading glasses. That is if they were worth a darn.

And took the Costa pricing and added a bit to it...I think everything on their website shows prices STARTING at $199

Been wearing Shady Rays for a couple years now and like them better than I did both pair of Costas I've owned. My first pair of Shady Rays fell off my head when working on the lawnmower one day and got jacked up when they landed on the hydraulic pump cooling fan. Contacted them, told them exactly what happened and they asked me to send them a picture...about a week later, I had a new pair at no charge and didn't have to send the old pair back.

I'm wearing $25 Flying Fisherman sunglasses. They are crystal clear. I use to wear Costa's but I don't take care of them.

Maui Jim Peahi give full coverage (wrap around) in a lighter frame than my Costa Permit 580 It is still a mystery as to where they went…long pool day and never left the house. I’m thinking they made it in the garbage in a late night cleaning exercise….pisser

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

Maui jim for the win! I do like Bajios mission statement. They supposedly help out islanders by setting therm up with gear to guide vacationers. It's pretty cool, but Maui Jim's have the best lenses available. If you compare them to any of the others outside and side by side, there's a huge difference. Also, through ID me, first responders and military get 40 % off on Mauis. I just got a new pair in today.

Other than Costa,

Smith chromapop
Rudy project

I bought two pairs of Calcutta and both delaminated quickly.

Maui Jim for me. Switched from Costa a few years ago and am still blown away at how much better these are. I wasn't interested in getting new lookers when I tried these on and had to buy them, that good.

They say costa and look identical to real ones. I’ve got 3 pairs that I got from gas stations. I bought pair from a feed store last week. They even come with the costa case and cleaning rag.

Smith….FAR better mil/le discount than Maui Jim, and better service than both Costa and Maui. Side by side, I can’t tell which glass lens is better between Smith and Maui….in Chromopop or Techlite. For not glass lenses, Rudy Project may be the best for optical clarity. JME

FWIW, Costa can kiss my ass after denying service on one of my last pairs over their own crappy construction.

Maui Jim's, are the best you will find, Costas don't seem to last, BUT I am about to receive my 3rd Free pair of Costa Permits, if your willing to spend the time to submit a warranty claim, they will acknowledge it, sent off a pair of the plastic lenses and got brand new pair of Glass lenses in return, have had no trouble with their Warranty department

+1 on the Shady Rays. Pretty good quality for what they cost and hold up well.

I have some Wiley X kingpins that I like. Actually about to buy another pair. Never had the other brands to compare them to though.
