Below 3000fps - Partition
Over 3000fps - Accubond
Those are gross generalizations not carved in stone. I’m a big fan of both.

Yessir! I’m always gonna shoot what makes me happy and I want everyone else to do the same! If you shoot one be proud of it and don’t worry what anyone else thinks. - SJ22

Accubonds were designed to mimic the performance of the Partition. The jacket is not fully bonded to the core, just the shank and not the ogive section of the bullet. This creates a large initial wound channel due to fragmentation like the partition but keeps the shank intact for deep penetration. But I've never caught a partition in a deer and have caught a few Accubonds.
The Accubonds will expand to a larger frontal area while the partition will peel back along the shank. If you like two holes in your deer every time, shoot a partition. If you want a little higher BC and don't mind catching bullets in dead deer occasionally, go with the Accubonds.
Either will kill a deer dead and you won't notice any difference. Shoot whichever may be available and/it most accurate in your gun.

I like and shoot both. I haven’t noticed any difference in penetration on deer. I’ve had equal success on pass throughs with both. I killed my first elk with a Partition and will kill my next one with an Accubond.
To add to the confusion, some NBTs perform like Accubonds.

Zero Accubond experience
Swear by Partitions. And, fwiw, have an upcoming Africa trip. Plains game - shooting a pair of 6.5x55 Swede rifles. Gave the guide 4 options for bullets, including Partitions (Speer Hotcors - I LOVE THEM!/Sierra and one other). Guide highly recommended the Partitions. What I am going with Just got a Swede and fortunately have lots of ammo on hand. Looking forward to testing it out. Probably going to try some 120 BTs and the 140 Partition. Does Africa require factory loaded ammunition? Are you just purchasing it there?

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
