Good Morning hunters ,
I have a question about possibly hanging a stand on a WMA before the gates are closed till September, first off is it legal to do so and I know I would be taking a gamble but I would lock it on of course.
Any thoughts are advice ?
Thanks

I prune this time of year. Gonna set my lock on this late summer.

I’m no expert on the subject, but I thought it was illegal to leave stands on WMA. Someone educate me if I’m wrong.

If you do it, just remember the straps will weather and need to be inspected. You can't permanently attach a stand to a tree.
It's against the rules to erect any permanent tree stand; install any screw-in type steps, spikes, or nails; or otherwise damage any tree.
But to answer your question, I don't know the rule on leaving the stand there for months. I'm guessing since the rules to mention
removing portable blinds form the WMA left after the hunts the stand is a NO. Call and ask

If you do, make sure there are no steps or ladder to climb up to it.

I spoke on the phone with a warden regarding a similar question. However, I was just asking about leaving a stand overnight. He said that was fine, but what you’re wanting to do is what is what they don’t want folks doing. The WMA rules say no permanent stands, but sounds like your mileage may vary depending on which warden you run into.

I’ve run into stands all over Poplar Springs segment of Skyline, climbers, lock-ons, ladders.
The rules definitely vary by location and individual. Joe4 and I learned that in TN with game cams. Supposed to get permission or some such with cams but they were everywhere.

On the distance I like to walk to my stands:

The rules say leave it untouched so....no you aren't supposed to leave anything anywhere. But like usual, everyone has an opinion.
