The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Hope it’s a good trip. Went years ago twice I would love to go back one day before I’m too old to hump a canoe on those portages. I still have the map book we used 30 + years ago was looking at it the other day and reminiscing Yeah i still have mine from when we went in ‘86 😳. I think im more excited to be taking my sons.

What is this......... I'm dumb..... Boundary waters canoe area up on the canadian border. We go out of ely/winton, mn. The quetico national park is just across the border. Many thousands of acres of wilderness with 1000’s of lakes. A lot of it is restricted to no motors and float planes with permits only can fly across. Brown fish, green fish, toothy fish…all fish. Bears, moose and whitetails errwhere. Oh…and the skeeters.

Not sure exactly what they are but they bite the Piss out of you. We had several bear encounters in camp that were interesting to say the least.

A perfect example of why cold weather has no effect on the skeeter population.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Oh man, I am super jealous. My favorite excursion ever. Been up 3 times, although most recent was about 20 years ago, and now long overdue! Waiting for my boys to get a hair older, because it is true wilderness in every sense. We always went with Voyageur Canoe Outfitters out of Grand Marais. Usually went the first week of June, and my favorite route had us shuttled by an old de Havilland Otter with canoes strapped on the pontoons to Powell Lake. We paddled from there, through Clay, and onto Mack. Less than 5 portages, and none were too lengthy. We found a great site for basecamp and took day trips from there. Out of the trips I've taken, I can only think of seeing other humans once in the combined 3 weeks. We did see moose and bears. Only species we were not successful landing was lake trout. An abundance of smallies, walleye, and pike. Nothing like cooking a fresh walleye that was just swimming around moments earlier. And pristine water you could drink right out of the lake. I'm going to be living vicariously through you GMan! Pleas share pics upon your return!
If there's any doubt, then there is no doubt... The gut don't never lie.
