Hope it’s a good trip. Went years ago twice I would love to go back one day before I’m too old to hump a canoe on those portages. I still have the map book we used 30 + years ago was looking at it the other day and reminiscing

A lot of it is restricted to no motors and float planes with permits only can fly across. Brown fish, green fish, toothy fish…all fish. Bears, moose and whitetails errwhere. Oh…and the skeeters.

worse damn skeeters ever. You don’t step outside the tent after dark for sure. And those biting house flies are rough too. Not sure exactly what they are but they bite the Piss out of you. We had several bear encounters in camp that were interesting to say the least.

A perfect example of why cold weather has no effect on the skeeter population.

Oh man, I am super jealous. My favorite excursion ever. Been up 3 times, although most recent was about 20 years ago, and now long overdue! Waiting for my boys to get a hair older, because it is true wilderness in every sense. We always went with Voyageur Canoe Outfitters out of Grand Marais. Usually went the first week of June, and my favorite route had us shuttled by an old de Havilland Otter with canoes strapped on the pontoons to Powell Lake. We paddled from there, through Clay, and onto Mack. Less than 5 portages, and none were too lengthy. We found a great site for basecamp and took day trips from there. Out of the trips I've taken, I can only think of seeing other humans once in the combined 3 weeks. We did see moose and bears. Only species we were not successful landing was lake trout. An abundance of smallies, walleye, and pike. Nothing like cooking a fresh walleye that was just swimming around moments earlier. And pristine water you could drink right out of the lake. I'm going to be living vicariously through you GMan! Pleas share pics upon your return!

If there's any doubt, then there is no doubt... The gut don't never lie.

Cuz n addison loaded me in a canoe and i did help paddle that 5mi back to shuttle drop. 911 called n i got a first helo ride. 4.5hrs of surgery wed am…got my jaw back in “1 piece”. Doc said it was bad. Still dont know how many teeth i lost? Just feel like i look like a tweeker. Wrist surgery next week prolly. No clue about oral surgery. Guess we fix jaw then worry with teeth? I sure wanted to take a bunch more pics…and i hate i screwed my crews trip up. But im alive (cuz said i could easily been dead) n that 1.5hr paddling prolly dint help. But i knew i needed out asap.

Prayers lifted for recovery, praise lifted for getting you home safe. Hope you get back up there again soon. Looked like alot of fun, except that last part
