At our hunting camp, we've got two dogs we are training to blood track: my Zorro, a year old Boerboel (see thread by that name) and a year old mix breed. The two dogs are great, but we've learned that they are different in their style. Zorro is slow, methodical, and obedient while Ro is fast as a bullet, tireless, obstinate, but efficient. We don't take them together. because they distract each other. All that said, we are looking to get a gps training collar to share, since we only need one, with one dog going tracking at a time. Does anyone have any experience with the Dogtra Pathfinder collar system?

I have ran it on my tracking dog for the last 2 seasons. I have not had any issues with mine. I would still rather have a handheld but for the price it’s hard to beat

The vast majority of folks I know of are running the Garmin Alpha systems......They're pricey but well worth it IMO.....This is my eighth season with the same one without any issues......knock on wood.

I dont know anything about the Dogtra but we use the Garmins and they work well. Of course we hunt deer with dogs so we need the ability to track multiple dogs at one time. Most of us use the Alpha 200i because it allows you to store up to 100 collars. Some use the Alpha 100 which will store 20 collars. The cheaper Garmin Astro should suit your needs unless you wanted to be able to tone and/or shock the dog. You would have to step up to the Alpha 100 to do that.

I have never used the dogtra. Everyone that I know that had one, now has a Garmin.

I love my Dogtra when it works. It seems to work better in some area than others and takes a little too long to connect to my phone than I can handle at times.
