We had a water leak at our house and the tile was taken out to let the subflooring (plywood) dry out.

We had plain white ceramic tiles 1/4 inch that measured 8x8.

We would like to add some color, but most tiles are 3/4" thick which would make them higher than the hardwoods.

If you do tile work, then would you do porcelain or ceramic?

Does anyone know a place to find some good patterns in a 1/4 inch thick tile?

Is plywood the best for putting tiles on?

Our laundry room is about 44 square feet. Would you do bigger or smaller tiles?

Thanks.

If you have a wood subfloor and 3/4" hardwood you can use a 1/4" dura rock, thinset it to the subfloor and your tile should be level with your hardwood. Porcine is normally slightly thicker than ceramic . Both a great options for a laundry room. Check out floor decor in homewood for tile.

You can use a transition piece in the doorway to ease the move in height difference if there is any.

I would do larger size tiles, less grout lines and looks better imo. As suggested Floor and Decor is a good place to look, also Daltile off West Oxmoor Rd.
