If I understand the regs right to sale catfish in Al a license can be bought at a fee.Question, is there a market for wild caught catfish? Use to see a few commercial fisherman out on the river but it's been several years.

With all the catfish farms in Central Alabama it would be a hard sell IMO. probably have to find a few specialized buyers.

Catfish farms in Al. are dropping like flies. The high cost of feed has made it basically unprofitable.

The prices are a little better than before but not by much.

What I've seen the store is almost as high a good steak.Guess could put out a few ads and see if there's any interest.

Yes there is a market for wild caught catfish still. The father and uncle of a guy I work with had a fish market but now only the uncle owns it but all they bought was wild caught catfish. Bassackwards, do you need 400 lbs of fillets or whole skinned and gutted cats? I may could help you out but god it would be a lot of work. And how many freakin people are you planning on feeding? 400 lbs is a crazy amount of catfish.

btw.....the 'peddling' of the fish is more work than catching them! LOL

BUT, I did manage to sell about $700 worth of whole catfish this past week. We have been wearing em out!
