Does your club have a rule about how many deer a member can kill?

Our club typically kills 30-40 per yr, last year one member killed 11 and his guests killed 2-3 more. It seemed to me that was a bit of overkill.

Your thoughts?

I bought an ATV to get to my hunting area, now half the fun of hunting is the ride in and out.

If he is eating them and their aren't rules against it, I don't see a problem with it. As long as he's not shooting fawns or button heads. 11 is one thing, 25 would be another.

Depends on what your sex ratio is and what method they are using and where they are killing them.

The club that I hunted in Russell County had a six doe limit per member. I dont know why. They kept telling us that we needed to shoot more does. I usually killed four or five of them per year. Most of the other guys only killed one or two.

Overkill? What did he do with them, and did the herd need thinning or not?

i agree with this .year before last i shot 6 and that fed the 3 in my family all the way right up till the start of the next season.some year's i've only shot 3 or so and im usually out by now .i believe in getting your moneys worth with all the money most folks pay to hunt.

It depends on the club's desired doe harvest. If other members don't want to shoot does and you have a member that offers to pick up the slack, then what's wrong with the one member shooting other member's doe requirement? As long as the harvest goals and objectives are met.

I think you have to have buck limits per member and as far as does... members should be able to transfer doe allotments to other members. Bucks, however, are NON-transferable!

Unless you're in a club AND agree to club rules, it ain't anyone's business how many you kill in a season within the regulations set by the state.

One? Fine. Thirty-nine? Fine. One a day all season? Fine.

I would think one buck to every two-three does would be fine in almost any county . As long as they aren't being wasted.......hammer down

As a young bowhunter, the numbers game was a burning obsession in me. As I matured, the quality of the animal became the obsession. Now the obsession is simply enjoying a great day outdoors. Everyone is different, but I wouldn't drag a doe out of the woods for it. As far as dragging one out and giving it to someone else-no way in the world. In the last three years I have killed only 2 deer per year and they would be on anybodys wall. I consider it a challenge to hunt mature bucks, not shooting does. Just my $0.02 worth. I don't have a problem with anyone killing a doe or two, but 10 or more is simply greed.

I can't stand a thief.

Justice Roberts would see that as, "One? Tax. Thirty-Nine? Tax. One a day all season? Tax.

Just kidding. I agree with Clem. If there isn't a club rule against it, roll on. If you hunt in an area with a struggling deer population and club members don't like it, act on it. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with someone killing that many anywhere I hunt.

I pick up up the other member's slack every year because they just simply refuse to shoot the does we need to kill because they are holding out for a buck. I have killed no less than 13 does a year for 5 years running, and they still won't help me do the job. It becomes work.

Quality doesn't equal antlers to everyone.

If you don't like the rules of a club, find another one. If someone is breaking a rule, there should be a process to deal with them. If not, find another club.

I personally like having some sort of limit. Where I hunt we don't have one but I wished we did. I think it keeps people from pissing other members off and causing problems. If your clb has an official limit or not there is a number that someone can kill that would start making people mad, it may be 5 or 10 or 20 but there is a number for most people that would make them mad. If you are in a club then try and get a limit on number of doe that can be killed if the majority of the members don't want a limit and it matters enough to you find a different club that does.

What I have always found ironic is that the people that make the rules for the WMA,s severly limit how many doe can be killed there. But those same people will tell you that you have to kill a very large number of does everywhere else.

If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

I shoot em till I'm done. Freezer full of meat is my main objective.

Only 4 guys in our lease, so we don't put a dent in the population.

Mike, I don't know if they're right or not; but the wma's have hundreds or even thousands of different individual hunters. If each one killed 2 does it would impact severely. Rarely do hunting clubs or private properties hunt that many different people. Therefore, they have to manage the wma's differently.

Our limit is 2 bucks and 2 does per member. Guest kills count against the members limit.

We have a limit on number of bucks and number of does per paid membership and guest kills count toward the member's limits. Seems to work pretty good.

Any place I have ever paid for has always just upheld wildlife laws. I know this is touchy and we have talked about this thousands of times but I believe that I can kill all the does I want. I have people that want the meat and I have a will to provide it at no cost. I don't discriminate. eventually those slick heads will grow racks if you shoot enough of them.

It's like owning a pond. if you are catching a bunch of little bass, keep them and fill up the freezer. They will make bigger ones!
