Got into the safe today and pulled out one of my favorites. My dad grew up on a SE Bama dirt farm and wanted to get out of Ozark Alabama bad enough that he joined the Marines to go to Korea the day he was old enough to do so with parental consent. When he got back the story was he got a deal on a .30 cal carbine and a case of ammo. I still have the rifle, with original sling, and one bandolier of ammo from the metal case I still remember. Probably has not been shot in 45 years. It was manufactured by Inland Mfg. in 08-48.

I like a carbine. They get a bad rap IMO all that discussion about how weak they were was coming from it's comparison to .30-06. Well, of course they are in comparison.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Very nice.

great photo - I love old military rifles. First gun I ever fired was a M1 carbine. Was about eight years old on a creek bank outside of Montevallo at the old home place. It belonged to my uncle. I had it at the range Friday with a few others. Still great shooters all.

I used to hunt hogs with one in California. Game warden loaned it to me until I saved up enough for my 30/30.

Between the M1 and the 30 Carbine and those country boys carrying these weapons they were a force to be reckoned with.
