I don't know how to target those, but there are a couple of places that I catch a fair amount of them. If I could figure out exactly how to catch them and not so many other species in the same spots, I'd fish specifically for them. They are great on the table.

I caught a small one on Martin last summer in 35 foot of water on a jigging spoon. He was curious I guess and I snagged him.

That's a cool fish!

I had never caught one prior to our trip to Maine this past summer. We stayed on a big natural lake that was very clear and probably low fertility. It seemed like the yellow perch were the primary prey species. Every afternoon big schools of them would get chased to the top of the water and they looked much like a school of shad would here. Most of them seemed to be 3 to 4" long, and white perch of a pound or so were eating them. I also caught a nice smallmouth that was under the yellow perch.

It seemed strange to me that what I thought was mostly a predator species was the prey on this lake.

Preacher, they are prolific breeders. Pretty sure they stock them up there like we stock bream down here
