Can anyone convince me to by a 6.5 creedmore for deer hunting? I am considering buying since there is so much hype about it.

The one thing that sold me on the creedmoors, 6mm and 6.5, was the sheer availability of ammo during the past two years. Me and the kids shoot way too often to be handicapped by lack of ammo. There is always Creedmoor ammo available. May not be what you want but it will go bang and more often than not the results (accuracy wise) will be more than satisfactory. There’s nothing magic about the round itself. Marketing at its finest.

As far as a magic round it’s nothing more than you would expect out of any other bullet of the same size. My favorite part is how easy it shoots. Only gun my girlfriend will shoot her friend killed her first deer with it. And I’ve had a a few kids shoot/hunt with it and it doesn’t scare none of them. I like something that easy for people less experienced to shoot and still shoot 140 grain bullet. We haven’t had a deer run more than 60 yards and everything has left a good blood trail

Thank you Sir. That is exactly what I was thinking. My normal hunting environment is usually at a 100 yard shot. My "go to" guns are 308 and 243. I want to purchase one of the new Browning X-bolt fifles and trying to figure out a new caliber. I thought maybe 270. Do not really want to get in the 7 mag or 300 mag range because I am not accurate with high recoil.

I’ve got one. It’s a really good deer round. It doesn’t do anything super special. It’s an accurate round and it does a good job in deer. I used to tote mine a lot, actually killed 2 of my 3 biggest deer with it, but now one of my kids has claimed it and I’m back toting something else.

Buy a 308 if your concerned about ammo availability.

Buy a creed if you just want one. It doesn’t do anything any better than the older traditional cartridges except marketing schemes for gun manufacturers and ammo manufacturers to sell more products. It’s new, so it gets attention.

Ballistically, there’s a lot of rounds that compare and will kill deer just the same. Make sure you compare apples to apples and you’ll see.

I see the guns available, and the ammo has been somewhat available. I’ve done a lot of shopping for both recently.

How the heck can a “caliber” that shoots a certain grain bullet, at a certain velocity, out of a certain weight gun be any easier to shoot than any other equally compared weapon? That’s the part I need convinced of. A lot do misguided information out there on the Creed.

There’s a reason why the 270 has been around since the 1920’s. The 30/06 been around a long time. 308….early 50’s if I remember correctly. IMO…..30/06 is still king of versatility. From light load 120 grain bullets that match 270 closely on ballistics, to heavier 180 grain bullets, you can do what you need to do where you need to do it, and walk in any sporting good store or gas station during normal ammo times and find ammo.

If you shoot a Creedmore, you have to record yourself on video saying “dude” six times with your go pro and post it on YouTube and FB after every kill.

Unless you shoot long Range, the 6.5 is no better than any other deer caliber... Long range is where the Creedmore / PRC outperform most other Rounds..

With the Creed, every time you shoot a deer you have to yell "smoked him'! Every guy I know who has a Creed also wears Costas and a YETI cap, not sure why this is, must be a law or something.
