Please forgive me if I am on the wrong forum, but wanting to hear from hunters who use vortex diamondback scopes? specifically the tactical 4x16x44. What is your opinions on this scope for overall hunting? I currently use an older Bushnell elite 4200. Thanks. I have read that this is one of the better scopes under $500.00?

IMHO, keep the Bushnell or spend more than $500.

I like vortex also look at the Burris fullfield line

An Athlon Helos BTR Gen 2 can be had for under $500 if you look hard enough and is wayyyy more scope than a Diamondback Tactical.

I had a Diamondback at one time, it was an ok scope. I'm fixing to send a Vortex back for warranty for the 3rd time with the illuminated reticle housing broken. Nothing like pulling a broken scope off your primary hunting rifle the second weekend of the season. Higher end Vortex Scopes might be good but there lower end (cheaper) stuff is ok at best. $500 range I'd look at the Leupold VX3HD or Burris Signature HD.

The Bushnell you have is a better scope. If you are just wanting to upgrade magnification then the quality becomes even more important to get the desired result i.e. if you are going from a 3-9x40 to a a 4-16x44.
