If they said they wouldn't select until the other tryout I'd hold them to it.

This ^^^^. Surprised she is still catching and pitching. Usually by 12U they specialize in one or the other with a few exceptions. By that age my daughter was either pitching or resting and until she moved into exposure pitched every bracket game for her team. And then it was over, she decided she didn’t want to play college ball and got more in academic scholarships than softball would have provided. A bad HS coach resulted in her not even playing her senior year of HS ( Covid killed it anyway).
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

I just spoke to the coach and she will hold the offer until the other tryout. It is ultimately Austins decision on where she wants to play. Team is coached by 2 parents, and then a 3rd that does not have a kid on the team. The tournaments are all local, this is not a showcase team, they are too young for that. The coach told me that Austin was the only one they have offered a spot to because they wanted to get her before she committed to another team. Thanks for all the opinions. I guess that's good if y'all are happy with the decision, but don't be surprised if the coach doesn't make good on their word. They have already proved their word means nothing.
