Ours calms down once we get on the interstate and moving for a while. Stop and go In Town gets her anxious.

Takes us about 6 hrs to get there. I would probably stick TWO dosings in my pocket. That way, you won’t be fully aware of all the bedlam until everybody else unpacks the car.

Get a travel cage put in some blankets and toys the slip it a micky. Add in a "warm" hot water bottle and a small wind up clock(sounds like mom's heartbeat). No problems then.

appear bright until you hear them speak.

Talk to your vet about what he/she recommends for the situation. I will say, however, that all our dogs settle down once we are on the interstate and not in the stop and go traffic. So, when you say she gets stressed just on short trips, are you always in stop and go type of traffic or travelling on the interstate or highway?

Normally I would recommend Benadryl. But for a 6 pound pup, I wouldn't. I'd try a carrier. Like folks said it's usually the stop and go and turning. It feels weird to a dog, I've seen some get car sick. They'll also feed off y'all's nervous energy. If you can wear the dog out before loading up, it should also help some.
