Well, not much of a story, we hiked around for a week, got chased out by a blizzard and locked in a hotel by closed roads for a couple days, and slap wore our legs out looking for Antelope on BLM land but in the end both my buddy and I got nice bucks. Wyoming is not near as flat as you think! Expected it to be a bit easier, but it was a blast. Yet another taxidermy bill!

Very nice.
I’m building preference points in Wyoming for a trip.

What area in the state did you hunt?
What rifle? How far was your shot?

We were north of Casper around Kaycee. We used 2 points each on the tag. Took 2 points this year to have a 100% draw this year for the unit that just a few years ago was easy to buy off the leftover list. Saw a decent amount of hunters but it wasn't too bad. Just less animals than expected. Saw 6 does scouting the day before season, 2 does on opening day, then nothing until I shot my buck Thursday and my buddy shot his Friday. Which we were in the hotel all day Tuesday and half the day Wednesday.

I used my Cooper 280AI with a Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x42, shooting factory Nosler 160gr Accubonds. Shot was 397 yards, first one I hit him a bit back, and he just stood there, 2nd dropped him. Had to make sure I wasn't aiming at another one for the 2nd shot, let the 2nd one go when I saw his mouth drop open while he was standing. Got to him and the first one was a good ole gut shot, not afraid to admit it ha. I'm betting there was a wind at him that I couldn't feel laying in the ditch I was in. Spotted them at around 600 yards and thats as close as I could get, some of his does were already aware I was coming actually before I laid down and let them calm down and let myself catch my breath for the shot(s).

Antelope are awesome. They smell like corn chips.

Haven’t tried it yet, plan to this weekend. Butchered most of it ourselves, but going to take the front shoulders to a local guy for some burger meat.

Antelope burger is awesome in spaghetti/lasagna/Italian type meals. Not so much in tacos and such. There really isn’t enough fat to hold one together for a burger without some bread crumbs and eggs.

Cube steak is very good made from antelope.

Lots of folks don’t like it because of the “sage” flavor in the meat but I totally disagree with all of them.
