We were able to no till a few plots this weekend and also disced up 2 other plots but didn’t have time to spread seed and fertilizer on those 2. I had planned on spreading those today and covering with a drag. Originally this was a good plan because rain was forecasted for this Thursday. Well now I’m not seeing anything above 30% until 2 weeks from now. There was good soil moisture when we turned the soil but it may have lost that moisture cooking in the sun the last 2 days. My question is shouldn’t I wait for another 2 weeks before a better chance of rain or is it possible to seed and cover today and hope there’s some moisture to make it to the next rain? I want to seed and be done but I know what I probably Should do

Only put out your seed if your planning on a dove shoot in 2 weeks.

If it were me it would depend on what I was planting. If just wheat or oats or both I would say put it in the ground and hope for a shower. Just be easy with the fertilizer. If it’s some high dollar seed mix that I want done right, then I would wait and watch the weather for a more favorable forecast. Especially with the price of fertilizer this year.

Workin for the man, huntin when I can.

Plant it. We planted ours back during the drought, a few years back. We planted the 1st of Oct, and it didn't get any rain until late November. It came up and did well the rest of the year.

I'm in the same boat. I'm waiting until end of next week. I'm afraid there might be just enough moisture in the ground for it to germinate then bake in the sun with no rain. Didn't plant until late Oct last year and plots were excellent
