My grandma, her brothers, sisters and some neices/nephews own some land. For me to legally hunt this land, it is my understanding that I need a signed permit. My question is, do I need just my grandma's signature or do I need all the family members that own the land? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need it from each land owner.

technically you don't need a written permit at all if you are hunting as a guest of the landowner. Before any of ya'll howl, read the damn law all the way thru.....

I don't know laws but I know I'd just hunt if I didnt have a problem with any family...

I don't have problems with any family. Just problems with a neighbor that would lo e to get me in trouble. None of the family lives within an hour of this property.

You may want to clear up if you are hunting with the land owner. (Which now you are a guest) To go hunt and the land owner stays home. I believe now you need written permission. Someone here may can clear this question. I will try to find the laws.

If I could go , when I wanted I'd get written permission for each or have each sign it.
. Save maybe a head ache done the rode .

Game warden to game warden guest can mean different. I rather get it signed than spending a day out of work to clear it up

Just to add , I'd add permission to carry a pistol if I were to be carrying one .

I don’t believe you need any of there signatures to legally hunt it but at the same time if it makes you feel better and could most likely clear any discrepancies up faster you could get all of them. Chances are you won’t need it but better safe than sorry.

Workin for the man, huntin when I can.

This one?

Immediate family as defined by law:

Landowner’s spouse
Landowner’s children, if Alabama residents
Landowner’s parents, if Alabama residents
Landowner’s brothers and/or sisters, if Alabama residents
If Landowner has a tenant residing on the property, he and his immediate family residing on the property are exempt from the requirement of a hunting license.
If the member of the immediate family has moved out of state, regardless of whether or not they possess an Alabama Driver’s License, they are considered Non-Residents.

By what he wrote it don't cover him .going by what I've seen in the past best to have it writing .

Ever permit I've ever had had three things . Pemission to hunt , permission to carry , contact number.

You run into a asshole GW you'll see why

No. This one that is written in plain English in the law (Section 9-11-241) itself: "This section shall not apply to the members of the family, guests, servants, or agents of the landowner."

He may not need a hunting license, but he will need a permit. If all those own the land, then there should be one person that is the head of the "estate, trust, llc, etc." That should be the one that is authorized to give permission to hunt. If it is different tracts of land, then yes, each person will give their signature for each tract they he/she owns. The piece of paper is more for your time and money versus right and wrong. So a game warden rights you a ticket, now you have to take a day off work to go to court and plead your case. You may or may not need a lawyer depending on if you feel lucky, but most will hire a lawyer to be in court with them. Now, you are out money for a lawyer, time and attendance at work, and missing out on a sick day/vacation day/or a day's pay just to prove you are right! Some of you may want to fight this in court because the principal of the thing, I can think of a lot more to do with my time than listening to lawyers, judges and D.A.'s. Getting a small piece of paper to prove I have a right to be there is a small price to pay. Also, what if it causes a family strife by pitting one against another. Nope, get a signature.

. I thought everyone except for the landowner had to have a permit, even if the landowner is with you, or it that what you are already saying?

Therealhojo, a permit is different from a license.

"Immediate family" is NOT defined by law for Section 9-11-241. It doesn't even appear there.

But like Troy says, as long as you're a guest of the landowner, it doesn't matter.
