Well, we arrived down here on Friday, Saturday was decent until about 5pm when the rains started. And its been raining every day since usually from around 10am until 2 or 3, then about every hour afterwards each day. It sucks but at least I'm on vacation for a week, right? And according to the forecast, its to continue like this until we leave this Friday slap

I'm on Destin this week on motorcycle. Rained off and on whole way down. All in all not too bad.

Hate to hear it. I’ve been working across the bridge in Panama City at Tyndall AFB. Finally got to come home this week but I’ll be back Monday. Enjoy your time off and eat some good food.

We were in orange beach a few weeks ago and it rained 6 of 7 days and the surf was so bad the kids could barely get in it. I actually enjoyed it because I hate being on the beach in 90 degree heat and full sun.

Better than sitting in the sand. I'd much prefer to chase the old lady around the room at the beach than get sand on my nuts

This week is tough for renters, it is supposed to rain through Thursday I believe. The jellyfish were pretty bad last week.

All the kids must be out of school. Every client I talked to yesterday was at the beach.

If you want to see a wave of humanity, take a drive over to the Bass Pro Shop and outlets in Destin when it's raining at the beach...

We had some Red Tide in Panhandle on/off since late Sept., Looks like Bay county may be spared for now

Red Tide Status Update for October 1, 2021
Current Conditions
A patchy bloom of the red tide organism, Karenia brevis, persists along Florida’s Gulf Coast. Over the past week, K. brevis was detected in 103 samples. Bloom concentrations (>100,000 cells/liter) were observed in 30 samples: three in Okaloosa County, one in Walton County, one offshore of Hernando County, three in and offshore of Pasco County, 10 in and offshore of Pinellas County, five in Manatee County, and seven in Sarasota County. Additional details are provided below.

In Southwest Florida over the past week, K. brevis was observed at low to high concentrations in or offshore of Pinellas County, background to low concentrations in Hillsborough County, background to medium concentrations in Manatee County, background to high concentrations in Sarasota County, very low to low concentrations in Charlotte County, and background and low concentrations in Lee County. For additional information, view the Southwest Coast report and map.
In Northwest Florida over the past week, K. brevis was observed at background to medium concentrations in or offshore of Okaloosa County, very low and medium concentrations in Walton County, very low and low concentrations in Bay County, very low concentrations in Gulf County, background to very low concentrations offshore of Dixie County, background to low concentrations in or offshore of Levy County, medium concentrations offshore of Hernando County, and background to medium concentrations in or offshore of Pasco County. For additional information, view the Northwest Coast report and map.
Along the Florida East Coast over the past week, K. brevis was not observed. For additional information, view the East Coast report and map.
Fish Kills
Fish kills suspected to be related to red tide were reported on the Florida Gulf Coast in or offshore of Walton, Dixie, Levy, Hernando, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee counties over the past week. For more details, please visit: https://myfwc.com/research/saltwater/health/fish-kills-hotline/.

Respiratory Irritation
Respiratory irritation suspected to be related to red tide was reported over the past week in southwest Florida in Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, and Lee counties. For recent and current information at individual beaches, please visit https://visitbeaches.org/ and for forecasts that use FWC and partner data, please visit https://habforecast.gcoos.org/.

Forecast
Forecasts by the USF-FWC Collaboration for Prediction of Red Tides for Escambia to Pasco counties predict net western transport of coastal surface waters in most areas and variable transport of subsurface waters over the next 3.5 days. Forecasts for Pinellas to northern Monroe counties predict net northwestern transport of surface waters and variable movement of subsurface waters.

I don't know if you have kids but that upside down place is pretty cool. I actually enjoyed it. I've heard Ripleys is ok, never been myself. I don't know how bad its raining, but they have movies and stuff at Pier Park. I always try to hit Tootsies first then catch back up with the family or until they come get me, if a bands playing.

ETA; I think its called Wonderworks

Every time that I'm in Orange Beach and it rains, which has been a lot this year, I'm just damn glad that I'm not in Montgomery.

There have been kids down at the beach every week we have been there since school started. There are unusually lots of kids hanging out. I didn't know there were still schools doing online learning. Late September and into early October is usually quiet, that is until fall breaks start. You could make a drive over to Apalachicola, Mexico Beach and Cape San Blas. It is a little bit of a drive, so that could depend on the age of your kids, you may not want to be in the car with them that long. The drive, except for going past Tyndall, is ok. There are a few places to eat in Mexico Beach. It beats all the nuts in and around Pier Park or the other touristy spots.
