$40k and it's got a "fair amount of rust and corrosion." It's like wiping before you poop, it just don't make sense.

Vehicles are a living thing. If they aren’t driven every so often seals dry out, gas turns to varnish, etc. That truck is a money pit waiting on the right IDOT

I did too
Put over 350k on it and sold nearly for what I paid for it

It would be fun to have for about $400 and not $40,000. Like some already said, it would require a lot of attention because things would be going south every day.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

That truck will most likely get cleaned up and put in a museum…theres a dude..i cant remember where…but he has an entire museum dedicated to nothing but land cruisers..rumor has it hes fixin to get into hilux and pickups an make another one..an original 83 miles…that truck could be a rusted non running turd an still be worth a chunk..i got to see late 60’s corvette and roadrunner..the vet had i think 12 original miles and the RR had 112…both were connex cars..sealed and forgotten for years..the guy who had said both cars were worth in the millions..i dont know much else aboutem other than they was purty.

I gotta think you could find a decent, rust-free one, have it completely restored inside and out, and a brand new engine and transmission, for somewhere in the $20k range.....but, I guess there's dumber stuff people have blown money on

I'm surprised that Morris hasn't already bid six figures on that truck.

I have a 93 pathfinder I used to hunt out of. Great machine, until a family of rats ate all the wires under the hood. Didnt think it was worth the effort to fix. Its sitting out back next to the bushhog.....

Toyota will buy it back. If not them, some Toyota dealer will buy it for a showroom showpiece. I doubt that they will bat an eye at 40-50 K and then spend 35 more on a full body off restoration if need be.

You absolutely could make a decent one like off the lot new again for that kinda money…for $20k you could make it new inside, outside, paint it a custom color..buy a camper shell and have it matched..an shove a mercedes om617 diesel and intercool it an a new set of premium tires

Similar story involving a tractor. I used to collect/restore antique John Deere tractors and go to a lot of tractor shows. I was at the big 2-Cylinder show in Waterloo Iowa several years ago. There was a 1950's JD model 60 there that had been driven from the dealership , parked and never ran again until bought from the original purchasers family. Of course the motor was stuck but that was it. It still had the faded stickers and tits on the tires and the tag saying it didn't have antifreeze in it. The story was the guy bought it , drove it home , parked it in the barn , it had a bad battery and the dealer wouldn't make it up . Old guy got pissed and was so stubborn he vowed never to start it until the dealer gave him a battery. Dealer never gave him a battery , he never drove it again.

Dam near every time i drive it to town someone wants to buy it

They laugh it off but i’m serious.

Yeah - just start making them like that again. Auto makers get too complicated. They may not sell to everybody, but there’s a ton of guys that are tired of the technology BS, and would love to go back to a truck like that.
