You’ll actually hear both sayings about hornet nest height - but I always figured higher-colder was the most likely, cause cold air sinks. But I’ve heard it both way.
I don’t believe in either anyway. I’ve heard it both ways too ! Lady told me she had only been seeing solid black wooly worms . Foxfire books have all the old weather lore . That’s how they view the height of nests .

We found what appeared to be a wasp nest in an attic last week. Biggest one I'd ever seen. Normally we never see them bigger than a baseball. This one was at least as large as a toilet seat lid and we couldn't see all of it. Not sure if other insects build the same kind of nest, but I un-assed the attic quickly.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

I just finished recarpeting a bass tracker boat I bought back in the spring. When I pulled the front deck out there was a nest started at the rod box then went all way to the front, across, and down the side back to the console. I'd of hated to been in it when they were still in there.... More than likely that was yellow jackets
