Looking to get windows in my house replaced and have no idea how to tell quality of one vs another. Of course everyone you talk to has the best there is...

I'm no window guy by no means so take this for what it's worth.....We had ours replaced last year and we went with Window World. They gave us what I thought was a pretty good price and the windows have a great warranty on them. Had em for just over a year now and we have been well pleased.

We didn't go with Window World (I thought their prices were too high), but based on what I saw - they seem to have very high quality products. I don't want to pretend that I know "jack doodly squat" about windows, but I would recommend that you go with Low-E windows - they do seem to make a significant difference in the amount of heat transferred into the house.

Yes. Definitely go with Low-E windows! That has made a huge difference in our AC use.

I got a quote from Wallzone and Air tight windows in bham. $3k difference in the 2 and honestly the brochures are kinda vague. Big investment for me so I want the best price but on the other hand I dont want to do this but once.

I got Anderson Low-E windows from Russell DoIt Center when I built my house ... about middle of the road windows from what I researched. I have been happy with the performance, but I can tell you that birds bang into them all the dang time. I've been told it is because they are so reflective. Absolutely freaking annoying ... I hates birds.

I checked with Window World about a couple windows I have to replace.
I was surprised they don’t really replace them they just covered the jambs with metal. Can’t remember how they dealt with the sashes because after he quoted me a price which was about 5 times what I thought it should be I told him he seemed like a good guy but I felt bad for him having to try to make a living passing that bullskit off on people.

Our Window World guy was out of Dothan and we had 21 Windows replaced and some other custom stuff done by them and the price was very fair I thought.
