Did folks say the same thing about self service gas stations? I have a serious suspicion they did. I’m far too young to know though. The self service kiosks at Lowe’s and other places make my trips much quicker.

Just fill your cart and head to checkout. When there is no one to help you checkout, just leave the cart. They will get the message before long.

Am I supposed to help unload trucks and stock the shelves also?
I refuse to use them, regardless of where I am.
So you would rather wait many times longer in line to prove a point to yourself than quickly self check out and be on with your day?

I don’t remember many people fussing about self service gas. In fact I helped a friend of my Granddads occasionally at his station when it was full/self service depending on which pumps you pulled up to, same price there by the way, and seemed like with the exception of elderly women and the occasional person wanting the oil checked and windshield cleaned most used self service.
I usually walked out and washed the windshield and collected the money anyway if I wasn’t busy.

Nobody complains when the other companies do it...only when WM does it.

So you would rather wait many times longer in line to prove a point to yourself than quickly self check out and be on with your day? Yup. I have worked as a cashier before, and don't see any reason that companies can't provide the service. They deliberately understaffed the registers to fool people into doing the work for them. The theft/deception rate has to be huge. Academic for me, because I don't go to walmarks.

Getting hard to find help these days, i guess. We went to walmarks in gardendale yesterday, to get the boys school supplies. There were no buggies in the store. Strangely enough there were a bunch of them sitting in the middle of parking spaces. One cashier in the store. The rest was self checkout. And they had one side of them shut down. People standing in line everywhere. I detest walmarks. Go there as little as possible.

I prefer self checkout. Probably keeps the prices low as well. Eventually they'll have a smartphone app where you can scan and pay for your items from your phone anyways. I don't understand why so many of yall are getting your feelings hurt over it...

I will only use the self checkouts at Home Depot in extreme need to get out the door quick. I wouldn't know about Walmart, we've shopped there twice in two years. The flashlights I prefer for work can only be found there at a decent price. So I have them shipped direct to the house. I don't work for these companies, but understand the offered service. The day that's the only way to check out will be the day I stop shopping local at all.

Payroll is usually a business's largest, controllable expense. I'm a small business without anyone besides myself and my wife to help and I'd like to keep it that way. I don't have to worry about someone else tearing up my equipment, calling in sick or loafing on the job.

Oregon may be another, but I'm not sure about that one.
