I have a pressure washer with a Honda GC160 engine and it is probably 15 years old. It has been a great pressure washer only used a few times each year. It always starts on a few pulls and has never had an issue. Today it started as usual and ran steady for about an hour with a refueling midpoint. It stopped suddenly and gas was half full. Spark plug has not been replaced, so I replaced it, also checked oil but it appeared to be fine, added a little to top off. Tried to start and nothing. What are your thoughts? Anything I should check? Thanks for the help!

Spray starter fluid in carb pull cord vigorously and see if it fires any. No fire should indicate electrical as in a kill switch is bad or a ground is disconnected or a fuse is fried, bad plug gap. Shouldn’t be a fuse but you never know. Fires on starter fluid indicates carb / fuel problem. Filter clogged dirt in tank water in gas

You might to consider something electrical if it ran good for awhile.

Could have emptied the tank and sucked up some trash into the carb when you refilled it.

Check the air filter. They have been known to come apart after 15 years of use. When they do, the carb will suck in small parts. Air Filter looks brand new!

Thanks for the input, I will start my diagnosing/tinkering and post results later today of tomorrow. On another note: I picked this up a year or two ago and this has been a great help with the task of pressure washing decks and driveways. I think I paid around $50.00 for it.

Update: Decided issue was with the carburetor and removed. As I was removing I noticed the metal bowl on the base was loose and it dropped down as it was removed. The screw that held the bowl in place was missing. Looked on the ground where the pressure washer stopped working and found the screw. At this point, I had already ordered a new carburetor kit with gaskets for $13.00 and it will arrive tomorrow, so I will go ahead and replace the carburetor and see how it works. But looks like a loose screw was the culprit!

Worth their weight in gold for driveways, I wanna say mine is a Briggs and Stratton and I would just about bet that it cut my time down in half if not by 2/3rds....

So you have a screw loose? I've had that for years!
