I’ll also add , if your hunting any rut period they bucks in the mid west respond to rattling and grunting. They look for fights. So if the timing is right be sure to have that in your arsenal. Also, first hand experience if you are gunna play mr bad it helps to have some buck urine as a scent around your down wind side. If big boy comes looking for a fight and can’t see, hear or smell a buck it will make him cautious.

That is the BEST area of Missouri to hunt, there along the Iowa border. I hunted a 800 acre farm half in Iowa and half in Missouri and it had GIANT Bucks. I mean world class deer.

My son-in law is from that area. Huge bucks up there.

All the comments have really eased my concern about leasing the place. I think the overall experience alone will be a great time but I also want to have a chance to close the deal on one. I talked to the farmer to my NW and he confirmed some of the details I had heard about the place.

First, was that the 3000 acre farm that borders the whole eastern line does not allow any hunting. He also said the guys to my South heavily manage and have shot some 200 class deer. Insane to even think that’s a possibility to say the least… I asked him if I were to hunt his place what I could expect, and he said a 150+ in a couple days or so wasn’t unreasonable. So to say pumped up would be an understatement.
